Man, it's been a while since I posted. I blame my schedule. When I come home from work, I usually have plans for most of the remaining evening hours until I go to bed. When I don't, I'm so tired from my day at work that I want to turn my brain off for a while - this does not result in a good blogging state of mind. Of course, I suppose that's all relative. Anyway, it's been a while, so here's an update.
I saw a movie tonight that I wanted to see in the theater, but never took the time. I wish I would have. I want to first mention that I am not a fan of Tom Cruise and especially after the token 'poor sequel' to the great Mission Impossible movie, I was quite skeptical of the third installment. However, upon learning of the director of MI-3 (and of an appearance by the inimitable Simon Pegg), I found myself wanting to make the effort to actually put up with Tom Cruise and watch it. The director was none other than Mr. JJ Abrams, the dude who created the amazing show 'Alias' and the even more amazing 'Lost'. He also created 'Felicity', but that isn't my kind of show, so I have only caught a select few minutes at Janae's when she was watching syndicated episodes on TV. Back to the subject at hand... MI-3 is probably my favorite of the three, beating my previous favorite of #1. The whole movie felt like a long episode of Alias (nothing wrong with that) and it was rather well written, I thought. The soundtrack was scored by none other than Michael Giacchino (who scored Alias, Lost, and the Call of Duty and Medal of Honor games) and was fantastic, as expected. Even if you, like me, lost faith in the franchise after watching MI-2 (or before), I would definitely give this movie a watch. I give it two thumbs up, and will probably purchase it at some point.
Janae is coming back to Springburg! For a couple of weeks, anyway. I'll be so glad to see her. We got a bunch of stuff accomplished over Thanksgiving week, and we'll get more stuff done when she gets back. This time, thankfully, she won't have to be thinking about school in the back of her mind as her last final was today (I realize that I'm typing this at almost 3:00 A.M. on Saturday, but I am writing as if it were before midnight Friday night). She called me last week and was really upset about a test she took and was sure she bombed big time. She then called me last Saturday and said she got the grade back and it revealed her 90% grade on that same test. I was so proud of her - and still am. I'm so impressed with her that she has pushed on with school full force ever since I've known her (even during summer semesters) and continues to do so while in the midst of the hardest academic program she's ever experienced. I'm so proud of her!!! Anyway, her flight is scheduled for a 7:00 P.M. arrival at SGF on Tuesday. I will be dropping drinks off at Gaylon's, heading to the airport to pick up my favorite fiance, and jetting back to Gaylon's to feast upon all the goodies folks are bringing. Between the fellowship and food at Gaylon's, getting to hug and kiss my favorite person, and showing Janae one of my new favorite shows (Frisky Dingo - on Adult Swim - it's amazing, but you need to watch them in order), it should be quite a lovely evening indeed.
I was looking forward to the service project the Young Married class at Glendale is doing tomorrow at Dale Street, but due to an insane amount of incoming packages for Christmas, I'm gonna need to make most of tomorrow morning and afternoon a work day :( I hate that, going in on a day off to do extra work just so I won't be as far behind on Monday as I would be if I had just taken the day off. Oh, well - since I get paid by the hour, the extra dough on the check will be a nice result of extra work, especially during the holidays.
In case anyone is wondering what they're going to be doing Saturday night, a great local band 'Starrfadu' is playing their last show of the year at Borders from 8:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Come enjoy some great local music for free (unless you purchase a fantastic drink from Borders' cafe). Also, a couple of co-workers of mine (in two separate bands) are playing a show next Friday the 22nd - I'll post again before then and mention when and where, I can't remember at the moment. Music is fun!
That's all for now, I guess. See everyone on the flipside. Cheers.
P.S. - On my myspace page (see the link in my 'links' column), I put the preview of Frisky Dingo that ran on Adult Swim. Check it out, along with the other videos I have there, and enjoy. Or don't enjoy, either way; I just want people to watch them.

I'm going to start posting what I'm listening to at the beginning and the end of each post, as it usually takes me more than the length of a song to post. Since I usually keep iTunes on shuffle, I'll get to display two of my 2300+ songs at a time for folks to check out.
Well, to answer Andy's question, I will probably not be posting more about the wedding invite fiasco. At least, not right now. If it becomes an issue again in the future, I probably will post then. I have had a substantial amount of time to cool down since last week's post, and have also had plenty of things going on to keep my mind busy, so I'll go ahead and talk about that. Here's what I remember from last week (there were so many things going on that it's a bit of a blur!)...
Saturday, the 18th: Janae flew in from Hartford - hooray! It was the first time I got to see her since August 19th (practically 3 months!). After I picked her up at the airport, we went to eat lunch at one of our favorite places, The Garden Cafe (wonderful!). Once lunch was done, we drove by Great Southern Travel to get some ideas for our honeymoon (we're thinking about a week in England, based out of London; and a week in Scotland, based out of Edinburgh). We spent a good portion of the rest of our day looking at the books we got from the travel agency.
Sunday, the 19th: We went to Glendale and afterwards, had lunch and great fellowship at the Davis' place. After lunch, we swung by the Mall and I showed Janae my tuxedo suggestions, which she excitedly agreed upon. Then we headed over to Bed, Bath, and Beyond to get some ideas for what we might want to register for. That store is friggin' awesome, so many cool things! We ended the night by hanging out at Monique's place (who gratefully boarded Janae for the week, thanks Mo!)
Monday, the 20th: I worked a full day while Janae went dress shopping. After work, she, Steve, Monique, and "Coak" came to my place for a "Spaced" extravaganza, along with a few episodes of "Frisky Dingo" thrown in.
Tuesday, the 21st: I took the day off work so Janae and I could get some more stuff done. We swung by the Vandivort in the morning, so Janae could see the ballroom for herself (we'd already booked it back in September while she was in CT). After lunch at Casper's with Mo and Kim, it was off to meet with the baker (I like to call her the 'caker'). Janae and I shared our idea for a kick-arse wedding cake, and the 'caker' really liked what we asked her to do. So much so, in fact, that she offered to do a couple of things she doesn't normally do for her cakes. She gave us a very reasonable price (I thought, anyway) for the amount of work that will have to go into our cake. I was quite pleased with that meeting. After it was over, we met with the florist (who shares a retail space with the 'caker', very convenient). She was just as helpful as the 'caker' in providing suggestions while considering Janae and I's thoughts and ideas. After our meeting with those two folks, I was very reassured about the uniqueness of our wedding and I'm as excited as ever to see that day arrive! After running to Wal-Mart for last minute Bible Study snack necessities, it was off to Gaylon's. My cider recipe is growing ever closer to completion, I think a couple more adjustments and respective 'taste tests', I should be able to call it my 'official' recipe :)
Wednesday, the 22nd: A half day of work, that was supposed to end at noon, lasted until 2:00 and forced us to postpone plans for meeting with Gilardi's until when Janae's back for Christmas break. We were even a bit late for our first coaching session with the inimitable Dave Embree. I wasn't quite sure what to expect when we first sat down with him at Planet Sub, but I soon discovered Dave was even more comfortable to be around than I had remembered. I am looking forward to our remaining sessions. Once we were finished with our scheduled sessions, we headed down the road to Holiday Island, Arkansas (where Janae's parents live now). We ended the night with a game of Balderdash with her parents, her older brother Denny, and his girlfriend Morgan.
Thursday, the 23rd: Thanksgiving day... and it's freakin' 75 degrees - that's just not right! I was bitter about the weather most of the week. It's toward the end of November - it should be cold, dang it! Okay, enough ranting about the weather. A fantastic feast of turkey, green beans, homemade rolls, and sweet potato caserole entered our stomachs for lunch. Walking around the neighborhood helped us feel like we hadn't completely gorged ourselves. Then came nap time, followed by a viewing of 'Dirty Rotten Scoundrels' and we finished out the night with a ridiculously long game of Trivial Pursuit 20th Anniversary.
Friday, the 24th: We headed into Eureka Springs (about 10-15 minutes away from Holiday Island) and had lunch at one of our favorite places "The Oasis" (it's kinda like the Casper's of Ark-Mex hippy food, and it's wonderful). Then we did a bit of shopping, Janae and I found a cool rice paper print of the Japanese character for "Love" (which is going to be used throughout our wedding) and bought it since we're planning on decorating our first place with a bit of an Asian theme. Janae's oldest brother, Ryan, came in that afternoon and we all chatted for a while before heading to the grocery store to get a few things for a campfire we had planned to build that night. An amazing fireside dinner of Nathan's hot dogs (the best hot dogs EVER), s'mores, and wine coolers brought the evening to a close.
Saturday, the 25th: After a couple of fantastic breakfast burritos, we set off for nearby Lake Leatherwood to do some hiking for a couple of hours. Janae got worn out before I did, so I carried her on my back up a long, steep hill. That put an end to my endurance real quick :) We painfully trekked back to her dad's car and practically collapsed once we got inside. After getting back to her parents' place, we took a short nap before driving back to Springfield. We met up with Kim at Bandana's (or as Janae, Mo, and Kim call it, "Doo Rag's") and then we all headed over to Campbell 16 for a viewing of 'For Your Consideration', the latest work from director Christopher Guest (Spinal Tap, Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, A Mighty Wind). All in all, it was enjoyable, but definately my least favorite of those films. I'd wait for it to go to the Palace, if you're not a diehard fan of his.
Sunday, the 26th: Janae and I drove over to Springfield/Branson Regional Airport for a quick breafast at Cafe SGF before she boarded her flight back to Hartford. After our hugs and kisses goodbye, I realized I had forgotten the start time for Glendale's sound system work day scheduled for that afternoon. So, despite my body telling me to go home and sleep, I ended up going to church to find out what time the work day was to begin. I found out it wasn't until 3:00, but by the time I had gotten to church, I wasn't tired anymore so I decided to stay. Chinese Chef was the lunch destination of choice for myself, Kim, Adam Beck, the Davis', and the Tarbet's. The sound system needed more overhauling than Alan and I had previously planned, so we didn't get everything done that we wanted to, but did get a lot accomplished. After we called it quits for the night, we headed to Fazzoli's for dinner and then I came home and crashed.
Wow - what a busy week, I'm still not fully recovered! Monday nights are usually spent hanging out with Steve, but I didn't call him today and, despite wanting some company, I'll probably appreciate the early night I will have as a result. Now that I've bored everyone to tears (yeah right, like anyone has bothered to read this far!), I'll go ahead and end this post. I am looking forward to helping Andy celebrate his 3rd decade of life on Saturday, and hope to see a super turnout at Gaylon's tomorrow night. Cheers.

I had always heard weddings were typically stressful and never thought it would happen to me... well, this morning I had my first taste of what I think people might have been talking about. I'll get into it more soon, when I have more time to post (hopefully today sometime). All I will say for now, is that I'm about to scream and thankfully I didn't while on the phone with my mother. Cheers.
P.S. - If you haven't noticed already, I put a link to my Myspace page over there on the right side of this here bliggity blog. It's full of magic, wonder, and a few clips of tv shows I enjoy. It might also give you a bit more information about my personality than can be determined by reading this blog and/or being around me in person every so often. Hopefully it won't cause you to waste too much of your time :)

Unfortunately my time to post is short, as I will need to be awake in 6 hours. Ta-tah for now, and hopefully I will see some of you at Gaylon's on Tuesday. Cheers.

Hooray for iTunes! I don't know why, but all last week it wasn't working. Every time I'd try and open it, Windows would show an iTunes error and would not let it open. I tried rebooting the computer, it didn't work. I tried doing a repair install - that didn't work either. I tried deleting it, then completely reinstalling it - still not working! So I spent all week being mad at Windows (moreso than usual) and the fact that it wasn't letting me open iTunes. I know Microsoft hates Apple, and rightly so - Apple really has their crap together and offers much better products, operating systems, and software. Oh, well - someday when I have lots of money, I'll probably get a Mac. Until then, however; I will put up with my PC and it's unfortunate dependancy on Microsoft products.
Oh, yeah - I forgot to mention (in case the listing of an actual song at the top didn't clue you in) iTunes is working now :) I don't know what happened, but this morning I tried one more uninstall of iTunes and then rebooted. When Windows was up and running again, I downloaded it one more time and did the install. When it was done - no error messsage, hooray! So I have been enjoying some tunage ever since getting back from church.
In sad news, I found out yesterday that my Grandma (from my Dad's side, my only living Grandmother) has three aneurisms in her brain. I knew about one of them a couple of years ago, but what I didn't know was how serious that particular one was. It's located near the base of her neck, in a place that's too dangerous for them to try any sort of operation on. So, basically I could be completely Grandmother-less really anytime now. I don't know why, but it really hit me hard going home - like I got this really awful feeling that I wasn't going to see her again before she leaves this world. My mom's parents both passed away over 10 years ago, and I am sad they will only be at my wedding in spirit. I keep hoping God will let both of my living grandparents be at my wedding in July.
I have sort of a different (at least when I compare it to what I see around me) relationship with most of my family. I feel like a bit of an unintentional black sheep. I say unintentional because I don't blame anyone for me feeling that way. I don't really have much in common with most of my family with the exception of DNA and a last name. Nobody in my family plays music and none of them are interested in things I'm interested in. And adversely, I'm not interested in things the rest of my family is interested in. The Robertsons usually talk about either farming, sports, card games, or any combination of the above. I am not particularly interested in those things so we rarely have anything to converse about. The Howes are so spread out that I don't get to see many of them very often at all. When I do get to see them, their lives (including socio-economic class) are so different than mine that it creates a barrier of interests between me and them. No one on either side of my family plays any musical instruments and none of them enjoy the same kinds of television, movies, music, humour, etc. that I do. Ugh, it's very frustrating when I'm around family. I mean, I love them because they're family, but I almost despise any kind of family get-togethers or holidays because after the joy of seeing folks I haven't seen in however long wears off, I'm ready to come back home where I have friends who's company I enjoy much more.
I am so grateful for the friends I've made in Springfield, especially those folks I've known since before I lived here (Dave, Kip, Angela, Mo - I appreciate you so much!) I know once Janae and I get married, we probably won't be in Springfield (due to a career-essential obligation of Janae's that will force us somewhere outside southwest Missouri), at least not until she is done with her residency. We'd love to be able to come back and settle here, and we hope God gives us that opportunity when we are looking for a place to relocate to after her residency. Whatever happens to us and to our friends, I sincerely hope and pray that life and distance will not separate us too much. The folks who read this who don't know me very well, I hope that can change in the very near future. The folks who do know me fairly well, I'm grateful for you putting up with me! I appreciate all of you who put up with me, my bald head, my jokes (however inappropriate they may be at times), my musical tastes, my foot odor, and my poor grammar. You all are fantastic!
So - hooray for friends, hooray for iTunes, and hooray for the Cardinals (even though I couldn't really care less about sports, it's cool to see a 'hometown' team like that go that far). I know we aren't meeting at Gaylon's this week (thanks to those darn Pagans) so I will catch some of you there next week. Hopefully I will blog before then though. Also, Janae will be in town the week of Thanksgiving, so we will both be at Bible Study (and I'm making cider for that night - that's right, Angela - hopefully you can make it :) And don't forget about Weird Al's performance of 'White and Nerdy' on Leno this Thursday night (around 11:20 p.m. or so Central Time). Cheers.

Cheers.

He just liked boats and stuff
Artist: me
Song: fingers on the keyboard
Album: my iTunes isn't working properly so I don't have any music playing at the moment :(
Todd Ferguson is not my favorite person right now. I sat around my apartment all day yesterday (until about 9:00 p.m. when I went to Barnes & Noble to buy Karl Pilkington's book [see Monkey News post], which is great so far). My ankle was feeling remarkably better and I was just aching to get out and do something productive... and I read about the surprise work day at the Harshman's, organized by Mr. Todd "I'm not going to invite Moose" Ferguson. Thanks for not including me. I normally don't get too aggrevated about avoiding physical labor, but I really wanted something to do and I love to help friends. Anyway, I am a little bitter about being excluded, however unintentional it may have been :)
On a happy note, I did discover the joy of .torrent files and downloaded the entire I'm With Busey and The Assistant (both of which only lasted a season, most unfortunately). I know some of you are going to say, "What did Weird Al teach you about downloading things illegally?" Well, to that I respond, "I don't consider it wrong to download tv shows to your computer that are not available for purchase anywhere." Because, believe me, if either of these amazingly brilliant shows were available, I would have bought them the minute they became so. So, I have been watching some of both shows this afternoon and they have brought a great joy to my weekend.
So, I'm pretty excited about tomorrow night's concert. 'Big Daddy' Harshman and I are going to see the amazing bass icon Victor Wooten and his equally amazing lineup of supporting musicians at Juanita K Hammons Hall for Performing Arts at 7:30. I'm sure most of you don't really care and therefore aren't too jealous of Mr. Harshman and myself, but let me tell you - you should be. For those who have an eventless evening planned for tomorrow night, I urge you to grab a ticket (providing there are any left) and catch the show - it'll change your life for the better. Trust me.
I suppose I'll see everyone at Gaylon's on Tuesday night (if people actually show up this week - last week it was just Gaylon, Wyatt, and myself) and tell you how much you missed out by not going to or caring about the Victor Wooten show. I got online and found a clip of Mr. Victor with his brother, Reggie (who plays guitar, and will be there tomorrow night) and needless to say, it was friggin' awesome. Here it is.
So, yeah. Come to Gaylon's this week and fellowship, learn about Samuel, eat some snacks, and let Adam and myself tell you how awesome the show was.
Oh, a VERY important announcement... Thursday, November 2nd, tune in to the Tonight Show with Jay Leno on NBC - the musical guest.... Weird Al himself performing "White and Nerdy". It will rock your boxers. Cheers.

It's just a flesh wound!
I'll start this off with a warning. I have been taking some fairly hardcore pain medication (which will be explained further along in this post) and it makes me really mellow and groggy, so this post may be a bit weird. That being said, let's get this done:
Artist: me
Song: fingers typing on a keyboard
Album: my computer is up and running, but I don't have speakers for my tunes yet
About those pain pills... I had a fantastic day on Friday, I was done with my required duties (as per my job description) by noon. I took the opportunity to find projects around the store that needed to be done. The last of these projects was straightening all of the guitar hooks and fixing all the price tags on the guitars in said hooks. I got about a 3rd of the way around the store, when an amp I was standing on (to reach an insanely high guitar hook) tipped over, tipping me over with it. I took a fairly hard fall (it wasn't the distance I fell, so much as it was me weighing almost 250 pounds) and landed on my right foot at a rather unnatural angle. I thought it was just a slight injury and tried to shake it off, but then I started getting really nauseous and my vision became blurry and spotty. I thought it might be a good idea to sit down for a few minutes to avoid passing out, so I did. Once I felt I could make the trek home, I got in my car and did just that.
I called Janae and told her what happened, she recommended I elevate it and all that stuff, but if I was going to be up and around (which she correctly assumed I would be - cabin fever doesn't take but about 15 minutes to set in for me sometimes), to go and get a cane or set of crutches - something to help keep the weight off the foot to speed the healing process along as quickly as possible. I reluctantly took her advice (you know, being a man and all, I'm supposed to be able to suck it up and ignore pain... yeah, right.) and went to Walgreens to check out their selection of mobility assistance products and found the least expensive item I could - a cane that comes apart and folds up for easy storage.
Fast forward to Saturday...
I wake up and my foot is throbbing. It looks like Sherman Klump's foot from The Nutty Professor - except it's not black. Anyway, it really doesn't hurt too bad when I put on an ankle brace, a sock, and my shoe; so I get my cane, take my computer stuff out to the car, and head over to church to meet with Mr. Alan Davis. I get it all put together, but between making the new parts work with the old parts and all of the STUPID updates that friggin' Microsuck makes you do (and to make it worse, they make you reboot between every single stinkin' update - AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!! Yeah, I want a Mac so bad, it sucks they're so darn expensive!), I was there for 8 hours! Anyway, after that I went to my friend Chris' house for this month's UFC Pay-Per-View fight night. Between the fighting, the sweet tea, and the Bagel Bites (which are awesome, in case anyone hasn't ever tried them), I didn't really think about my foot much. I went to bed and my foot was feeling alright, once I propped it up under a couple of pillows.
On to Sunday...
I got almost no sleep Saturday night, I kept tossing and turning, and my foot would hit the wall and it'd make me wake up - not a good night. Anyway, I'm supposed to be at church early to run sound for 1st service since Clint wasn't going to be there. I set my alarm the night before and somehow managed to either not turn it on at all, or turned it off without even remembering I did so. Whatever happened, I didn't get up in time for early church. I jumped out of bed, forgetting about Friday's injury, and then yelled quite loudly when I was reminded. Fast forward - I'm at church, hobbling around like a friggin' gimp with my cane, and Gaylon yells, "Moose, what did you do!" I explained what had happened and he asked if it was turning colors, I said that it wasn't and he said, "that's good, 'cause when I broke my ankle it turned about the color of your jeans." I was relieved... until I got home... My foot was really starting to bother me, so I took off my shoes and socks - my foot had a couple of red splotches up by my toes and a big purpley-brown mark forming just under the ankle bone. So, remembering Gaylon's words I called Janae to get some advice (she's much more medically savvy than I am) and she recommended I go see the doctor first thing Monday morning. I called my Mom to tell her what had happened and to ask for her prayers and she practically screamed at me to get to the ER immediately.
I have to get back to work, so I'll make this already boring long story short. I went to the ER, they X-Ray'd my foot, told me they couldn't see any breaks, gave me an ACE wrap, an air cast, and a perscription for some pain medication, and sent me on my merry little way. I started taking the pain pills yesterday, but only took one pill at a time instead of the suggested dosage of two since I was at work and didn't know what two would do to me. I found out what two would to do me today... Two pills of Darvocet make me sick to my stomach, groggy, sensitive to noise, and more mellow than I care to be. So, there you have it folks. I will try and make it to Gaylon's tonight, but if I'm less than lively - you know why.
Oh, if you were wondering what the title has to do with anything related to this post - it doesn't, it's just written on the T-shirt I'm wearing. Cheers.

Excitement with a capital "E"
Okay. Alan Davis is one of my favorite people ever. He has helped me so much this past week! I brought my quite-old-yet-newly-acquired-from-my-parents PC over to his house and we spent most of Sunday afternoon/evening looking it over, trying to install XP (as much as I despise Microsoft, XP is considerably better than Millenium Edition, which was on it when it became mine), determining a good upgrade for what I could spend, and just having some good hang out time. I have never considered myself stupid (well, almost never) but some of the terminology and figures he was throwing at me made me feel like I should be riding a short yellow bus everywhere.
So, about my title today - I am excited! My DSL is supposed to be turned on today, and the parts I ordered for the PC should arrive at my apartment tomorrow. Alan's going to help me put it all together probably on Saturday, so by the end of the weekend, I should be on-line and back to being a bloggin' fool! I need to head to church tonight for band practice, so I have to cut this post a bit short. Have a fantastic evening at Financial Fun Class, and I will see most of you at church on Sunday. Cheers.

About friggin' time!
I don't have what I'm listening to because I'm on my dad's laptop and he doesn't have any tunes on here for me to enjoy while posting, so sorry. At least I've got an excuse, TODD :)
Okay, so I have hated not blogging just as much as you've hated not being able to read any new posts from my neck of the woods. Let me just say that I have just been through the worst work week one could work in a week (say that five times fast! No, really; say it. Say it. SAY IT!!!) Anyway, this past work week has, I think, given me a glimpse into the bowels of Hell... and if that's any indication of what afterlife awaits me if I fail to have a relationship with Jesus, then I don't wanna go there!
Keep in mind we have recently ordered a considerable amount of our stock for the Christmas season, to ensure it will be here on time. Each order that is placed with a particular vendor is quite large, to allow us the best price possible, and is supposed to be scheduled so that only a little bit comes in at a time and makes my life as easy as it can be while keeping a reasonable inventory in stock for all our customers between now and Christmas. Well, I say 'supposed' because for one reason or another (it's pretty hard to be sure who is to blame, the manager who did the order or the vendor who sends it to us - it could just as likely be either one) most of our Christmas orders so far have come in all at once, and NOT as scheduled smaller shipments. This creates a slight problem, as I have a pretty limited space to keep all of this stuff when it arrives. So I'll sum up this past work week for you:
Friday, 09/29 - An order that was placed on Tuesday, 09/26, showed up at our door... 2 skids worth of drum hardware and guitar stands.
Monday, 10/02 - 31 parcels get dropped off by UPS (our normal day consists of around 12-15 parcels) Yeah, I'm still not caught up from Friday at this point.
Tuesday, 10/03 - 35 parcels from UPS, I get Friday's stuff done but haven't gotten to even touch Monday's wonderful gifts of joy.
Wednesday, 10/04 - 36 parcels from UPS. Monday's stuff get's done and a bit of Tuesday's pleasant packages.
Thursday, 10/05 - 39 parcels from UPS. I'm starting to freak out a bit at this point as my stockroom is quickly running out of space. As soon as UPS leaves, I hear air brakes outside my door... two more skids of stuff (one of amplifiers and one of guitars). I give up!
Friday, 10/06 - 13 parcels from UPS and no more skids of product - finally, a break! Hooray! The clouds lift and I actually get a chance to make some considerable progress! Good stuff.
So, yeah - today was a nice end to an otherwise awful work week. Sorry for complaining, I just needed to vent a little. On a brighter note, my parents are giving me their old computer this weekend and Alan Davis agreed to look it over for me and help me get it up to speed (it has Windows ME on it, arguably the worst OS in the history of mankind). Couple that with SBC hooking up my internet by Wednesday (hopefully) and I should get the chance to resume my daily blog entries that I have been slightly slacking on as of late.
I guess I'll wrap this thing up for today. Cheers.

VW (not the car)
Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooootin!!!
Big thanks to the Moosinator for snatching up some tickets to see Victor Wooten. Most of you probably do not know who this is. As a matter of fact, I would not know who this is if it were not for Moose. Moose (yeah, I'm talking to you), I give you my profound thanks for introducing me to music that is phenominal and outside what would be considered 'mainstream.' (Same with the flicks). Moose, you are my cultural ambasador. You provide me with my regular dose of music-and-movies-and-stuff-that-is-cool-that-I-would-never-have-found-on-my-own. For this I thank you.
Anyways, Vic Woo plays with Bela Fleck and the Flecktones (please, for the love of all that is good, find some of this sweet ear candy to listen to sometime, see Moose for details). I had the pleasure of seeing Bela (with Moose of course) at Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts (JKHHPA, yeah, they call it that) and it was awesome. I look forward to Oct 23rd and our date with VW. Oh and I'm man enough to call it a date without feeling all weird inside.
That's it for now. Piece!

Frankly Friday
Artist: Elliott
Song: Drive on to me
Album: Elliott (False Cathedrals)
It's Friday! I am quite fond of Fridays, as are most folks that have weekends off. Today's weather has been pretty good - too nice to be working, that's for sure. It makes me so happy that Summer (my least favorite season) is gone and Fall (my most favorite season) is upon us. 'Tis the season of campfires, weenie roasts, s'mores, pumpkins, brown and orange leaves, cool days, chilly nights, apple cider, long sleeves, great conversations, and (this year) the next Christopher Guest movie. I love Autumn!!! One might say to me, "Why don't you marry it, then?" To which I would reply, "Because I'm already getting married to Janae." That'll end that little argument :)
There are a couple of albums out that I need to pick up this weekend. Mute Math and Weird Al (both came out on Tuesday). Now that I got paid today, I can go get them :)
I don't have much else to say right now, as I have to be getting back to work (lunch break's over). I should be able to post again tonight.
In response to Mr. Schmickle's comment from my post entitled "Monkey News!", I am not calling anyone monkeys. The title is from a segment from "The Ricky Gervais Show", which was mentioned in the editorial comments about Karl Pilkington's book. Anyone who has not had the pleasure of hearing Gervais' podcast, well - you're just plain missing out. And missing out is not near as fun as making out. For anyone who cared to know. Cheers.

Cheers.

Monkey News!
So Todd gave me a great idea (and he didn't even know it). I'm gonna start posting what I'm listening to as each entry is coming to a close. I have over 2,000 songs on my iTunes here at work, so hopefully you will see some fairly eclectic song entries. Well, here it is for today:
Artist: Billy Corgan
Song: A100
Album: TheFutureEmbrace
I'm getting excited about a new book that's out (the hardback came out this month and the paperback is due out next month). I normally don't get too worked up about books, as I rarely have the attention span to pick one up for more than about 5 or 10 minutes at a time. This one is unusual in that about 5 or 10 minutes at a time is probably all one would need to feel a proper level of satisfaction with each read.
I will do a little plugging for said book. This book will not only challenge your thinking, but has a very real potential to change your life forever. I'll include the synapsis from Amazon.com below:
----------
Editorial Reviews
Book Description
In this pithy and hilarious book, Karl Pilkington is in conversation with (the often bewildered) Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, the writers and stars of The Office and Extras, unwittingly outwitting even those comedy Goliaths as he struggles in vain to make sense of the world around him.
Unencumbered by erudition and impervious to logic, Karl ambles down a heuristic path to enlightenment under the edifying influence of Ricky and Steve. His pronouncements on such diverse and contentious topics as population control, simian affairs within human society, the sartorial deliberations of solitary spacemen and how long you can stay alive with your head chopped off, are matched in the vehemence with which they are proposed only by the degree to which they are ill-conceived.
Featuring Karl's original illustrations, imaginative scribblings and the best conversations of the world record-breaking Podcasts, The Ricky Gervais Show, this is a unique trip into the world of one of our most innovative thinkers, visionaries and prophets, or as Gervais knows him, "the funniest man I've ever met."
About the Author
Karl Pilkington has led an extraordinary and curiously individual life. As a child growing up in Manchester, he regularly missed school to accompany his parents on caravanning holidays and left without collecting his exam result. Now making up for lost time, Karl's thirst for knowledge is sated by that most reliable fountain of wisdom -- the internet, and regulated by Ricky and Steve's diligent, if ruthless, appraisals of his new-found theories and beliefs.
----------
So there you have it. A must-read for everyone who can read. Cheers.

Straight Outta Lynwood
I am a little irritated I didn't get much time to blog yesterday (and I wasn't able to at all on Sunday), but maybe this will make up for it. I posted yesterday, primarily for Big Daddy Harshman, but I'm glad other folks enjoyed it as well. Today's post is related to yesterdays because as of 12:01 this morning, Weird Al's new album hit stores - yay! I don't know that I'll get as much out of this album because I don't listen to the radio except for select shows on KSGF (mainly Boortz and Savage) and a few Saturday programs on NPR (Whaddya Know, Car Talk, and Prarie Home Companion). Why would that matter, you ask? Well, Al's art centers around his uncanny ability to parody mainstream artists and songs. Since I don't listen to much mainstream music, I won't know many of the songs he's making fun of. I only understood "White and Nerdy" because I have heard a bunch of white guys in their souped-up Neons and Civics (complete with fart-tube exhaust system) blast that ridiculous Chamillionare song through their tinted windows. I will say with 100% confidence that Al's rendition is much better.
I don't get paid until Friday so I won't be able to pick the album up until then, but I am looking forward to it. I also will probably get a copy of the Weird Al Show on DVD - fantastic stuff. I'd just like to say how much I appreciate Al for being so gosh darn clever with his lyrics - and is still able to keep them G rated for the most part. I love that. Big Daddy Harshman and myself have a long-standing pact that he and I would go see a Weird Al concert together sometime. Well, buddy; maybe this album tour will realize the fulfillment of our agreement - let's see how close he's gonna get to Springburg!
Best wishes to you all for a great day doing whatever you're doing. I should see most of you tonight at Gaylon's. Cheers.

First Day of Fall
So looking at the calendar today, I discovered it is officially the first day of Fall, my favorite season! I thought the official first day of a particular season was always on the 21st of the corresponding month (Spring - March, Summer - June, Fall - September, Winter - December), but I guess not. I don't really care, I'm just glad Fall is finally here. Colder days, beautiful colors amongst the trees, and... I will soon get some chances to fine-tune my recipe for hot cider and hopefully make it official (up until this point I just kinda put a bunch of complementary ingredients together and don't have any actual measurements of any kind). Time will tell.
On a more irritating note, I'm posting this at work (I don't have a computer of my own) and one of my co-workers just came in and started asking me questions about a customer's order. I'm off the friggin' clock! Today I am only here to take advantage of my boss' PCs and high-speed internet access, I am not here to act like I'm working (that's what being on the clock is for :) I'll try not to bore you with too many details, but we had a customer place an order for a single drum. I received the order correctly (as far as I can tell) and processed it, but for some reason (that's going to bug the crap out of me until I can find out what it is), I transfered the item out of inventory and sent it back to the original vendor because I thought it was an accidental double shipment (we had another customer order the same drum at about the same time). Why would I do that when it was attached to the customer's account? That was a month and a half ago and the customer called us today asking where his drum was. I have had salespeople screw up orders all the time, but it's never been my fault before. At work, I usually do a really good job at covering all my bases, but I some how failed this time. This problem could have waited until Monday to present itself, like when I'm getting paid to deal with it. Now I'm gonna be distracted all flippin' weekend.
I guess that's what I get for coming in to work on my day off just to use the computer. I'd like to say I've learned my lesson... but somehow I doubt I can give up access to a computer and super-fast internet that's just a few blocks from my apartment just to avoid work issues. I justify it with the fact that when I do come in on a Saturday, it's not every week; and when I do come in, it's only for an hour or two.
Enough about work. It's the first day of Fall! Hopefully the temperature will start dropping soon, we had a couple of awesome days this past week that made me crave October/November weather something awful. By 'crave', I mean 'baseball bat', and by 'baseball bat', I mean 'hot ham water', and by 'hot ham water', I mean 'really look forward to', and by 'really look forward to', I mean 'crave'. That's all for today (unless I'm at a computer later today and feel like posting again). Happy snipe hunting!

Shiggity shiggity shwaa
I'm in a pretty good mood today, as I am most Fridays. I don't know how long I'll keep up posting every day, probably as long as people keep not reading this blog. That makes enough sense to me.
I'm really excited about my tux for my wedding, it's friggin' sweet. I am not typically one for dressing up (I just feel awkward), but I can't wait to get into that tuxedo. Not only am I excited to be married on that day, but I'm anxious to see how our wedding will turn out. We are trying not to be too traditional. We aren't doing any traditional wedding music, our colors are somewhat uncommon for weddings (as far as we know), and the tuxes will look snazzier than a duck with a peg leg and an eye patch.
I was hoping for no ring bearer or flower girl, but I think Janae talked herself into having a flower girl, so we compromised and aren't doing a ring bearer. I mean, the flower girl (after Janae explained it to me) made some sense, but neither one of us could figure out the symbolism behind the ring bearer. Other than having a distracting little brat running around with rings on a pillow - that aren't even the actual wedding rings - I don't know what the point of having one is. So, we aren't having one.
Janae is being very accomodating and letting me pick out most of the music (with her approval, of course) so that makes me feel good that I have some say in what goes on. I can't understand why guys don't usually care about any wedding details. They just assume it's the bride's childhood dream to plan their own wedding (and it probably is), but that doesn't dismiss the fact that it's his wedding too! I can't imagine getting married and not having a say (or even caring) about wedding details. Anyway, our wedding should kick much booty - not just because the music will be awesome or my tux will be sweet or Steve King will be dressed up, but because (yep, here's the "Awwwww" moment) Janae and I love each other. Yay :)
Well, I suppose that's enough sappy sap-stuff for one post. If I am able to tonight (and I probably will be) I'll post another entry for my own amusement ('cause I know nobody reads this) and phalangical exercise. That's right, I said 'phalangical'. I think I may have just invented a new word. Double yay :)

First blog!
So, this is my first web log - practically ever. I think for the sake of my fingers, I'll refer to it as a 'blog. Yeah, that sounds pretty original. Blog. Bloggy-blog. Bloggity, blog-blog blog. Blog, blog, blog, blog, blog, blog, blog. That's one of those words that sounds weird the more you say it. Kinda like blouse, blunder, blueberry, and janglehopper.
In case you weren't aware, I'm getting married next summer! Pretty crazy stuff. I imagine it would be a little more enjoyable and stress-free if I wasn't spending the better part of the next 8 months about 1200 miles away from my fiance. People keep telling me, "Absence makes the heart grow fonder." That may be true, but right now it makes this heart grow lonely.
I'll try and refrain from further bouts of sad rants from here on out. I guess I'll end this first post on my pretty much first ever web log. Safe journey space fans, wherever you are.
